Who are our predators? The spiritual forces of evil are the powers, the rulers, the authorities of the darkness in this world. They are the aggressors who oppose the kingdom of God and seek to recruit us to their destructive mission by infiltrating our defenses and exercising control over us. They are constantly seeking to find ways to demoralize us. They are as old as the serpent in the Garden of Eden, the false idols of paganism and the seduction of material success and power.

Knowing how to be a good husband or wife or parent or child or employer or employee is notoriously difficult because of various personalities and circumstances. I remember being on vacation and listening to a well known and highly regarded preacher on Fathers' Day dispense counsels of perfection which left me feeling inadequate and angry. There is a tendency to lay down too much law and not enough grace.

The London Telegraph reports (July 10, 2013) that most children in Great Britain will be born out of wedlock within three years because of the decline in marriage. According to the 2011 census the number of marriages has fallen to 45 per cent - the first time since the census was started in 1801 that married couples have been in the minority.

July 31 2013 By virtueonline TRANSFORMATION: Ephesians 4:17- 5:2

Futility of thinking is a description of meaninglessness, a feeling of uselessness, a sense of worthlessness, and an experience of emptiness. It is what Ecclesiastes expresses: "Everything is meaningless...All things are wearisome." The conclusion of atheistic philosophy, which reduces all truth to scientific description, is that we are mere biological machines with no freedom to choose and no future to hope for beyond death. Life is therefore futile.

Now glory be to God who by your mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we could ever dare to ask or even dream of - infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts or hopes. May you be given glory forever and ever through endless ages because of your master plan of salvation for the Church through Jesus Christ. Amen." (Ephesians 3:14-19. The Living Bible)

July 08 2013 By virtueonline PREPARE FOR PERSECUTION. ACTS 12: 1 -11

In Peter's incarceration nothing was left to chance. He was heavily guarded until the show trial. The religious and civic leaders were salivating over the prospect. Persecution is always the product of pure and blind hatred. Any possibility of justice is set aside. Peter is in grave and imminent danger. The fate of James is proof of that. Everyone knows what is likely. The church doesn't seem to panic but resorts to fervent prayer (v5).

June 28 2013 By virtueonline FREEDOM - Ted Schroder

This was as revolutionary a concept as the Declaration of Independence, for all European states of that time had an established religion, whether it be Catholic or Protestant. Also many of the American colonies which became the new states, up to that time had established churches, e.g. the Congregational Church in Connecticut and Massachusetts and the Anglican Church in Virginia.

My grandfather inherited one of the hotels, which my mother took over when she was twenty-two, and where my sister and I were born and raised. You could say that my great-grandfather's striking it rich changed the course of our family, and determined my destiny. As a friend once said to me when I commented on how he was always raising money for good causes, "With money you can make things happen." When I was fourteen years old I struck it rich when I discovered, what St.

The word for peace (eirene) occurs 43 times in Paul's letters, eight of which are in Ephesians. Peace is a fundamental component of Paul's theology: God is a God of Peace (Rom.15:33). Christ is the Lord of peace who gives peace (2 Thess.3:16). The gospel is a gospel of peace (Eph.6:15). The mindset of the Spirit is life and peace (Rom.8:6). Peace is the goal for human relations (Rom.14:19). Peace is the foundation for problem-solving (1 Cor.7:15).

In the parable of the prodigal son Jesus gives us a picture of salvation. The prodigal son takes his inheritance, leaves home and goes off and squanders it in a strange land far away from his family. He is reduced to tending pigs and eating their food. He comes to his senses and resolves to return home, i.e. repent of his sins. "I have sinned against heaven and against you.
