LONDON: 'I am still not getting what I want': Gay couple suing Church of England
Drewitt-Barlow said, "The only way forward for us now is to make a challenge in the courts against the church. It is a shame that we are forced to take Christians into a court to get them to recognize us."
"But we don't want to force anyone into marrying us - it is supposed to be the happiest day in my life and that would make me miserable and would spoil the whole thing," he said. "Aren't Christians meant to forgive and accept and love?"

Church investments undermine Welby's tilt at Wonga
On Friday, the Archbishop told Radio Four's Today programme that he was "embarrassed" and "irritated" by the news - uncovered by the Financial Times - but that he had "no illusions" about the complexity of investment.
Lambeth Palace said that they had been unaware of the investment. "We will be asking the assets committee of the Church Commissioners to investigate how this has occurred and to review the holding."

UK: David Cameron: 'I want to export gay marriage around the world'
Thanking the ministers and civil servants who helped to pass the legislation into law despite objections from the Tory Right, he said: It's been a real pleasure to work with you and to deliver this landmark social change for our country, which to me still comes back to the simple word of commitment."
He said that he wanted to "export" same sex marriage around the world so other countries could follow suit.

Standing our ground in the Church of England
As major cultural shifts take place it is always necessary to be self-critical. Have I, have we, been wrong? The church itself has many embarrassing skeletons in the cupboard. One of the oldest Anglican mission societies once owned slaves in the West Indies; only three weeks ago the General Synod offered an apology for the Church of England's failures over the issue of child abuse in decades past.

Archbishop of Canterbury condemns 'unacceptable' attacks on Muslims
He added: "I want, as I have already done, to acknowledge the pressure that our Muslim friends and colleagues have faced over the last few weeks.
"There have been terrible attacks, I know that the vast majority of those in this country and especially people of faith would join me in condemning utterly any act of violence against anyone because of their faith.

What was achieved in opposing the redefinition of marriage?
During passage of the controversial bill which by convention was supposed to be accompanied by free conscience votes, MPs and peers were subjected to behind the scenes whipping. This represents the very worst context in which to push through legislation as highly disputed as this. Experience shows that forcing the rights of a minority on a majority without a mandate rarely works.

Welby invites Stonewall into Church schools

He said: "The cultural and political ground is changing. There is a revolution.
"Anyone who listened, as I did, to much of the Same Sex Marriage Bill Second Reading Debate in the House of Lords could not fail to be struck by the overwhelming change of cultural hinterland."
He added: "We may or may not like it but we must accept that there is a revolution in the area of sexuality."

Disappointing Welby
Too many...think that same-sex marriage is merely a question of sexual ethics. They fail to see that gay marriage, and the concomitant collapse of marriage among poor and working-class heterosexuals, makes perfect sense given the autonomous individualism sacralized by modernity and embraced by contemporary culture-indeed, by many who call themselves Christians.
