The origin of human rights. The origin of human rights is creation. Man has never 'acquired' them. Nor has any government or other authority conferred them. We have had them from the beginning. We received them with our life from the hand of our Maker. They are inherent in our creation. They have been bestowed on us by our Creator. --- From "Issues Facing Christians Today" John R. W. Stott

Human Worth and Dignity. Humans and animals. In the unfolding narrative of Genesis 1 it is clear that the divine image or likeness is what distinguishes humans (the climax of creation) from animals (whose creation is recorded earlier). The Reality of Eternity. The state of things after the judgment is changeless and without end. The misery of the lost, and the blessedness of the saved, are both alike forever. Let no person deceive us on this point. It is clearly revealed in Scripture. The eternity of God, and heaven, and hell, all stand on the same foundation. As surely as God is eternal, so surely is heaven an endless day without night, and hell an endless night without day. --- Bishop J.C. Ryle

God may let the diocese seize the church sanctuary in which we have soaked up God's word like sponges only to never share its life-giving water with others. We have grown too comfortable and too complacent. We have become hot-tub Christians luxuriating in the steamy warmth of our churches, heedless of the needs of the lost and unsaved. --- Robin Jordan

Healthy Examination of the Soul. Occasional retirement, self-inquiry, meditation, and secret communion with God, are absolutely essential to spiritual health. The man who neglects them is in great danger of a fall. To be always preaching, teaching, speaking, writing, and working public works, is, unquestionably, a sign of zeal. But it is not always a sign of zeal according to knowledge. It often leads to adverse consequences.
