A former Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. George Carey, along with a bevy of scholars and churchmen representing some of the best minds in the Anglican Communion, met to dissemble the latest spin coming out of western Anglicanism.

Meeting under the auspices of the Anglican Communion Institute, the conference pulled no punches with its bold banner declaration: “The Future of Western Anglicanism – History and Hope.”

It is tough love, but for the sake of the person involved it must be done or the repercussions of inaction will ripple in all directions wreaking havoc on everyone.

The Episcopal Church desperately needs intervention. It is sick unto death. It is sick because of the continual compromises made over faith and morals by the House of Bishops and because it is patently obvious to anyone that unless there is intervention, the ECUSA is on the verge of imploding.

Griswold opined that there were many interpretations of Scripture on a number of issues including human sexuality, but then lit into what he called “other dynamics at work in creating the strains we feel.” One, he said was electronic communication. “Events in one part of the world are instantly transmitted across the globe. Our contexts invade one another without explanation. Because our world has become very small we need to remember that our day to day realities are vastly different.”
