"Today, having a clear faith based on the Creed of the Church is often labeled as fundamentalism. Whereas relativism, that is, letting oneself be tossed here and there, carried about by every wind of doctrine [Ephesians 4:14], seems the only attitude that can cope with modern times. We are building a dictatorship of relativism that does not recognize anything as definitive and whose ultimate goal consists solely of one's ego and desires." --- Cardinal Ratzinger (before he became pope)

Pray not to this end, that your own desires be fulfilled. You can be sure they do not fully accord with the will of God. Once you have learned to accept this point, pray instead that "Thy will be done" in me. In every matter ask Him in this way for what is good and for what confers profit on your soul, for you yourself do not seek this so completely as He does. Many times while I was at prayer, I would keep asking for what seemed good to me.

"Individual homosexuals may show splendid qualities. Some become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die of Aids. But the influence of the homosexual ideology destroys the social fabric of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, homosexuality is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout western European civilization, raising militants at every step.

Reforming the Church. The church's failings. We need to get the failures of the church on our conscience, to feel the offence to Christ and to the world which these failures are, to weep over the credibility gap between the church's talk and the church's walk, to repent of our readiness to excuse and even condone our failures, and to determine to do something about it.

Several years ago when Russia removed its ban on Bibles and allowed open worship again, some Navigators went to Moscow to aid in the return of confiscated Bibles. They were taken to this immense warehouse by an atheist government person who laughed at the whole process. The Navigators kept to their mission and did not reply. Going into the warehouse they noticed the atheist going in to jeer them as they worked bringing out the Bibles to trucks.

"...the difficulty is reaching across the chasm that divides us. It will take nothing less than a fundamental change of heart and mind for those on opposite sides of this debate to truly come together. There is a move on to declare that our essential unity is not impaired, even though we are deeply divided on these issues - but that view does not square with the events of the last six years. It is unlikely that either side will eventually come around.

The Archbishop of the Southern Cone, The Most Rev. Gregory Venables said that these are "crucial moments," in the life of the Anglican Communion and the "church is being lulled into relativism."

The archbishop cautioned about the danger of drifting away from the central tenets of the faith and urged Anglicans to reclaim the gospel of God's redemptive love in Christ. He also stated that the Cross was central to that message.
