S.P.R.E.A.D. Vision Statement

The Society for the Promulgation of Reformed Evangelical Anglican Doctrine (SPREAD) (as found in the classic Anglican Formularies: Scripture, the 3 Ecumenical Creeds, the 39 Articles and the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and Ordinal)

Vision Statement

To restore the Anglican Communion to its reformed catholic roots through teaching, publications and various forms of communication, or to assist in the formation of a new Anglican Communion grounded in reformed evangelical Anglican doctrine.

Strategic Goals

1. to help the orthodox Anglican Primates become aware of the state of theology and ethical teaching in revisionist provinces of the Anglican Communion in order for them to exercise their enhanced responsibility as Guardians of the Faith and the unity of the Church as spelled out by Lambeth 1998

2. to indicate the theological foundations stated or implied by the writings, public announcements and other leadership actions taken by the other three instruments of unity in the Anglican Communion as set forth in Lambeth 1998

3. to encourage scholarship and the publication of writings concerning the classic Anglican Formularies in order to make them more accessible and useful for teaching in the local dioceses, seminaries and congregations of the Anglican Communion or its orthodox successor

4. to authorize personal visitations by such persons as the Board of S.P.R.E.A.D determines to call upon such key persons in the Communion or its successor in order to share the vision and advance the purposes of this Society

Strategies The Board will need to flesh our strategies for the 4 Strategic Goals.

Goal 1. The first action of the Board was to send the Petition and Short Summary to the Primates attending the Cairo Meeting of the Global South ( 25th on Oct. 2005) to be followed up by hard copies of the long Support Statement of the Petition. Further mailings of the Petition, Short Summary and Longer Support Document will follow, perhaps to all of the Bishops of the Anglican Communion.

Copies will be made available to others and the documents will be placed upon the Web site of SPREAD.
