A Prayer for the President of the United States and the new Administration

By Ted Schroder
January 26, 2017

Almighty God, you have instituted governments under your authority as your servants. We thank you for the governing bodies of our republic duly constituted to represent all citizens and to provide equal justice under the rule of law. We pray that you will bless your servant President Donald Trump, that under his administration the nation may prosper and be wisely governed. Let your wisdom be his guide and may your arm strengthen him in the fulfillment of his duties. Let truth and justice, holiness and righteousness, peace and charity, be the hallmark of his term in office. Direct all his counsels and endeavors to your glory, and the welfare of all people.

Give to him, Vice President Michael Pence, and the national security team, discernment and courage as they seek to preserve us from danger and maintain peace. May his role as Commander-in-chief be executed with consideration for all members of our armed forces. Protect us from our enemies in this dangerous world and from those who are opposed to the Gospel of Christ.

Give us grace seriously to lay to heart the great dangers we are in by our unhappy divisions. Take away all hatred and prejudice, and whatsoever else may hinder us from godly union and concord: that as there is but one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all, so we may be all of one heart and of one soul, united in one holy bond of truth and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
