September 29 2006 By virtueonline ENGLAND: Bishop of London writes on Civil Partnerships

Our ultimate authority is of course the Word made flesh as he is "uniquely revealed in the Holy Scriptures". We read the scriptures in company with the church throughout the ages and most particularly we attend to the witness of the undivided church, distilled in the catholic creeds.

This inheritance of faith is expressed in our liturgy. The Book of Common Prayer as you know is so intimately related to scripture that you could almost describe it as a biblical mosaic.

As part of the agreement, I have assured Bishop Lee that I will not perform any "episcopal acts" within the boundaries of the Diocese of Virginia through January 1, 2007. In other words, I will respect his jurisdiction and not conduct confirmations or ordinations in Virginia during this time.

I am very grateful for Bishop Lee's generosity in making these rather unusual arrangements and pleased that we have found a way forward that brings glory to God and honors His Church.

The Windsor Report and Dromantine Communiqué reaffirmed the historic stance of the Anglican Communion on the authority of Scripture for the faith and practice of the Church, including matters of human sexuality. Tragically, the 75th General Convention fell far short of turning back and embracing the teaching of the Anglican Communion.

September 26 2006 By virtueonline THE BOOKS WERE A FRONT FOR THE PORN

It all looked so innocuous and disarmingly bourgeois. But if you went inside to browse, before long you noticed another section, behind the books, a section not visible from the street. September 20 2006 By virtueonline IN THE CHURCH, OF COURSE, THERE’S UNITY, AND THEN THERE’S UNITY - by Peter Cook

From Ephesians chapter 4 it would seem that four things are necessary. (1) A love among Christians that constructively seeks welfare for others before welfare for ourselves. (2) We must acknowledge that it is the “Tri-Unity” of Father, Son and Holy Spirit that creates and feeds “unity” in the Church. (3) The Holy Spirit “enriches that unity” by giving diverse gifts to the Church. (4) Finally, “unity must mature and grow” in every way (love and truth) into Christ as head of the Church.

September 20 2006 By virtueonline WHERE ARE WE NOW? - by Roland Morant

TEA would replace the scheme based on the PEV or flying bishop who is responsible to the diocesan bishop for carrying out his ministry. It was widely thought however that the present scheme would be unworkable with a woman in post as a diocesan bishop. TEA would introduce a new type of bishop called the Provincial Regional Visitor or PRV who, though exercising his ministry in one or more dioceses, would be responsible to the appropriate archbishop of a province.

September 18 2006 By virtueonline ENGLAND: Canterbury letter as Global South prepare to meet - by David Phillips

First there are the revisionists who believe in radical action to promote their views.

Then there are the liberals, who agree with the beliefs of the revisionists but not their tactics.

Thirdly are the moderates (or Thyatirans) who are morally orthodox but appear willing to tolerate gross error.

Finally there are the conservatives, who are not only orthodox in belief and morality but are forthright in opposing error, as their office demands that they do.
