St. Anne’s, a church body of 250 members, has remained steadfast and loyal in their commitment to the Holy Scripture, the historic teachings of Christianity and the Anglican Communion for over 100 years. However, the Episcopal Church USA has chosen a path that no longer reflects the membership’s steadfast faith.

The resolution, which does not mention homosexuality, was adopted in the closing minutes of the 211th Annual Council of the Virginia diocese yesterday at the Richmond Marriott. About 1,000 Episcopalians from across the state attended the two-day meeting.

The lawsuit alleged that the Diocese of Los Angeles breached a written promise made in 1991 that it would not attempt to claim St. James property. January 28 2006 By virtueonline PENNSYLVANIA: Bennison Rebuffs Call To Resign

The Standing Committee reportedly plans to issue a public letter soon explaining its decision. But, with Bennison insisting that his resignation is "not in the best interests of the diocese," it seemed that the jurisdiction could be in for a tug of war similar to that in the late 1990s in the Diocese of New Jersey. There, Bishop Joe Morris Doss held out against calls from diocesan leaders for him to leave, though he eventually took a severance package valued at $1.2 million to do so.

The Virginia diocese has been roiled since Bishop Peter James Lee, who lives in Richmond, angered traditionalists by voting for the 2003 consecration of New Hampshire Bishop V. Gene Robinson.

These emotions were evident in a recent letter from the vestry of The Falls Church, a conservative parish, to Lee, warning that he risked being harshly judged by God for his stand.

January 28 2006 By virtueonline ATLANTA: AAC Expresses Grave Concern over PB Nominees

We are deeply disturbed that the list of nominees does not include any candidate who is representative of orthodox Anglicanism. Of these four nominees, Bishops Alexander, Gulick and Jefferts Schori voted against a resolution affirming the authority of Scripture and basic tenets of Christian faith (B001) and voted to approve the consecration of V. Gene Robinson at General Convention 2003. Bishop Gulick, consecrated in 1994, has an extensive record of supporting the revisionist agenda.

Father Harnish says what's happened between the church and the diocese is like a death. But with it, he said, comes new life. He expressed sadness that things have gotten to this point, but remains committed to his faith and to his church.

"At All Saints Anglican Church now," Harnish said, noting, "We've officially changed our name. We are continuing to proclaim the gospel and trying to apply the Bible to our lives. Why would someone want to stop that within a church?"

January 27 2006 By virtueonline PENNSYLVANIA: Episcopal bishop says he'll stay

The Rev. Glen Matis, past chairman of the committee and a current member, said it was a "matter of trust" that led to the standing committee's seeking his ouster.

Matis would not elaborate other than to say the trust issue "was beyond fiscal."

Matis said the committee would issue a public letter explaining its decision in a few days.

In a telephone interview last night, the 62-year-old Bennison said he was "done praying" on it and is staying.

January 27 2006 By virtueonline ALABAMA: Bishop Henry Parsley's Letter about his Nomination for PB

This has been a prayerful process of discernment. Frankly I resisted it at first, but have finally shared in it with a sense of obedience to my ordination vows. I love serving Christ with you in the Diocese of Alabama and am grateful for God's many blessings during these nearly ten years together. Unless I am called to this new role in the church's life, I am eager to continue as your bishop and servant in Christ.
