February 25 2008 By virtueonline "Doctrinal Differences: An Anglican Prayer Book (2008) and the Great Commission"

As forms for public worship and private devotions the services of Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer in An Anglican Prayer Book (2008) suffer from much the same weaknesses as did the trial services. They are even more disappointing than the trial services because the editors of An Anglican Prayer Book (2008) had every opportunity to remedy these weaknesses but did nothing.

February 24 2008 By virtueonline IT'S THE ECONOMY, FATHER: A Friendly Response to Peter Toon - Gary L'Hommedieu

At first I felt the language of economics to be demeaning to the saving activity of the church and recoiled against it. This was convenient, because it permitted me to overlook my failures as a religious entrepreneur. It was expedient for a young professional used to functioning in a setting insulated from the world of real problems and solutions. It reflected the earlier prejudice of my college years that economic self-interest was simply another name for greed.

February 24 2008 By virtueonline ENGLAND: We can't disturb our legal system - Michael Nazir-Ali

The way in which British society and its legal traditions have developed a wholeness about them, is open to evolution, but should not be interfered with lightly. Although some of the Christian basis of society and of law have recently been eroded, our public doctrine of marriage and family, for example, remain founded on a Christian view of relationships between men and women and the rights and obligations of each party.

February 24 2008 By virtueonline The ABC's of Disaster - George Naff Gray

Each week for five long years now, people have become numb with sadness in their expectation that the ABC would finally lead the Anglican Communion in one direction or another. The fabric of the Anglican Communion has been torn and the ABC seems to be unwilling to repair the damage. The people in the pews overall see Episcopal leadership to be all talk and no action unless, of course, it is another so-called process (now currently called the covenant process) or another courtroom appearance.

February 23 2008 By virtueonline SYDNEY: "Repentance has not happened" says Jensen to Standing Committee

Repentance has not happened. Instead we are involved in an extended period of delay. Obviously, many hope that we will all learn to live with the innovations of consecrating actively homosexual bishops and blessing same-sex marriages. Just as the general culture has been led to believe that the biblical standards concerning human sexual activity are completely outmoded, so Christians are expected gradually to come to terms with the world.
